Freelance Writer Available – Scottish History a Specialty

I work on a freelance basis as a highly experienced writer. I specialise in golf and Scottish history.

My writing gives fascinating insights into Scottish history. My articles have been published many times. These include a six page feature on the Scottish Borders, including a focus on Floors Castle in the Scots Magazine.

I have also had articles published in Edinburgh Life magazine features on Swanston Village and South Leith Parish church.

Experiencing and learning about South Leith Parish church was my favourite experience. The history they have goes back centuries. It includes the mother of Mary Queen of Scots, Mary of Guise. Also, a seige involving Scotland, England and France. Finally a wonderful legacy from the son of Mary Queen of Scots, James VI.

I am also a highly experienced golf writer. I have reported from proferssional tournaments across Europe for Golfblogger UK. Events I have covered include the Walker Cup, Ladies Irish Open and Senior Portuguese Masters.

In Lisbon one cheeky lad asked me if I was a player. I was several years younger than that. As you can imagine, I was uncertain whether to take as a compliment that he thought I was a professional golfer because I was inside the ropes. Why the uncertainty? Perhaps he thought I was over 50. Alhough I must confess, I am now!

For Lothian Life I have written on many charities, including CCLASP, a charity which supports sufferers and families of children with cancer and leukemia all over Scotland. To view this and many other published articles click here.

I am also owner-guide of Edinburgh Tours and History, where I offer a variety of small private tours
